Not to be cliché or anything but, YES my meeting notes are more often doodles than notes. I have numerous sketchbooks filled with little characters and scribbles (a lot of scribbles). Lately, with always needing a reason to warrant spending time on a project (ie work, aka getting paid), I have been having a serious desire to get back to that childlike state of drawing … just because. For the hell of it. Because it feels good.
These are some of the results of that. This year without setting out to do so, I have started a little collection made up of sketches, vector art, watercolor, acrylic paint on canvas and photo mashups.
Last Christmas I received a Wacom Bamboo. It has opened doors as to what I can do as an illustrator, ahem, doodler. Vector doodles? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
If you are keen to this sort of thing, you would have noticed the square format of images above. “Instagram?” you may be thinking to yourself. Why yes of course! You can find me @stephdillon31
Also, a few of these are available in my shop as prints, tees, iphone cases, and other fun stuff. I have been receiving lots of pictures of peeps on Instagram wearing my designs and posting their print purchases. It fills me with so much gratitude for all of the support. Thank you!
I worked on another illustration in this style after having a lot of fun with Tiger Wild recently. I am not sure where this look is headed but I am enjoying it for now!
It is available in my shop as tees, pillows, iphone cases and other fun stuff.
Go get yours now! Thousands Under 90 by Jessica Hische
Just a quickie post to share a birthday “flyer” I made for a couple of co-worker ladies of mine.
After two long months of not posting I needed something to give me a little boost. Illustration Friday’s topic “Wild” was a great place to start.
This was a bit of a departure from some of the work I have been doing lately. Actually, it is more of a combination of things that I have been experimenting with. Normally, I have a hard time letting an illustration be “imperfect” (whatever that means) but for this week’s topic, perfect symmetry just didn’t seem appropriate. This was so much fun to do. Lots of color. Geometric shapes juxtaposed with organic line work. After working on this piece, I am thinking of a series… already. That’s how it happens sometimes. Giving in is the best way to grow. I am learning.
