RVA Project no.11

After a long break from the RVA Autumn Craft class (it’s nearly spring now, yikes), I decided to go back and make something new and fun. This was a relatively easy project involving some simple embroidery and crochet. Hopefully, I will be able to go back and revisit some of the projects I missed before next fall.

Feeling Minimal

I have taken a small blogging hiatus over the past week or so but you should know that that doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy.  Since, I have updated my blog template. It’s a work in progress but so far I am satisfied for the most part. I have also finished a painting that I can’t post yet because its a surprise for the future owner. I am anxious to share the results so maybe a sneak peek will be in order. I have also started crocheting a new blanket and there will be pics coming soon. Lastly, I picked up some new gouache to get the traditional illustration back in action. Even with all that going on I still feel like I have been slacking in the creative department, so…

Today, I made some minimalistic illustrations. Nothing fancy. Sometimes it feels good to create simple and enjoyable illustrations with no fuss. Its good practice and relieves the pressure to be super detailed. Simple and awesome I would say. Enjoy!

Storm Watch Results

If you have seen the news at all this past week you have probably seen SoCal in a frenzy over the wet weather. It tends to get a lot of hype considering we don’t get much of it around here. You may have even seen images of cars turned over, satellite images of giant storm clouds, flooded neighborhoods and mudslides, yikes! Aside from some stressful driving conditions and wet ankles, my view wasn’t so bad, at least when the sun came out to play.

Fuji has been vectorized. It’s about time! This little man came into my life when very few things seemed like the right fit. After having him a few short days I kept asking myself how I got by without a pet in my life for so long. Now I realize, it was because Fuji wasn’t born yet.

IF: Wilderness

The latest topic over at Illustration Friday is Wilderness. This was a fun topic. I used a photo of a bonsai from my recent visit to the Huntington Library as a refernce. The little critters are some kind of “bear.” Nothing you would find in nature but rather from my imagination. I am looking forward to some camping trips starting this spring so I can hang out in the wilderness, look upon the trees fondly, and if I am lucky witness some critters just being wild in their habitat. Enjoy!
